Practice

As a school psychologist, I provide counselling services to students, parents, teachers and professionals from other institutions (e.g., child psychiatrists, learning therapists, social workers). Frequent questions concern problems with reading and math acquisition, attention, bullying, depression, anxiety, and intellectual giftedness. I also organize workshops about bullying, sleeping problems, and early reading acquisition for teachers and students which I aim to base on the latest robust empirical evidence.

As a clinical psychologist, my current focus lies on working with patients that suffer from chronic insomnia, nightmares, shift worker syndrome, and other sleep disorders. I mostly use cognitive behavioral therapy methods, psychoeducation and relaxation techniques while working with individuals or groups. I am particularly interested in using evidence from biological and sleep medicine research to explain how sleep disorders emerge and how patients‘ behaviors contribute to their persistance. I also occasionally blog about sleeping problems.
